YES4PEACE conducts peace symposium for students, educators
TACLOBAN CITY- In line with the celebration of the Peace Month, a peace symposium and orientation for students and educators was held yesterday at the Leyte Normal University (LNU).
In a dialogue, YES4PEACE- Bayanihan para sa Kapayapaan, Kaunlaran at Kasaganaan Eastern Visayas coordinator and SPET III- Sto. Nino SPED Center, Ledwina Teston, said that the activity was spearheaded by the Yes for peace group to orient educators specifically the Values Education teachers who will be guiding the Grade 4 to 10 pupils in responding the ‘peace’ questionnaires on November 8.
Teston added that the activity is likewise projected to enlighten people on the importance of peace in the country.
“So basically, the activity aims to orient our educators who will be guiding the children in answering the ‘peace’ questionnaires this coming November 8.But also this activity likewise envisioned to awaken our people on how vital peace is, most especially today that we are experiencing ‘chaotic’ dilemmas here in our country,” Teston said.
“So in this sense, mabibigyan din ng boses and kabataaan, not only in our region but in the other regions as well kasi this is a synchronized activity all over the country. Essentially, we are targeting at least 10 million Filipinos to be part and join this event for peace,’ Teston said.
“We should stand for peace kasi kung may kapayapaan, may kaunlaran. We should start peace within ourselves and extend it to your family and to the society and later on to the whole country,’ she added.
YES4PEACE Bayanihan para sa Kapayapaan, Kaunlaran at Kasaganaan is an enduring peace edification and advocacy movement embraced and supported by the Department of Education, Commission on Higher Education, the Philippine Postal Corporation, Boys and Girls Scout of the Philippines, the Alpha Phi Omega International, local government units and the Teachers Dignity Coalition.
