A new life, thanks to a new wheelchair
TACLOBAN CITY-Struck with paralysis, Mano Fredes Manog, 61, has nothing but teary eyes upon fitting himself in a brand new wheelchair given by Mayor Alfred Romauldez and his wife Councilor Cristina Romualdez on Saturday, March 2, 2013.
The wheelchair came as a surprise to Mano Fredes after two of his neighbors – former councilors Wilma Almeria and Amelia Dableo of Purok-4, Barangay 62-B in Sagkahan district- took the initiative of informing the Office of the City Mayor about his condition.
Mano Fredes suffered from a stroke a year ago, preventing him to move around easily over long distances, and more importantly, finding a work. Aside from living with his sick wife, Mano Fredes has no children to attend his needs.
Mano Fredes expressed his gratitude to Mayor Romualdez and his wife Cristina, saying: “ With this wheelchair, I can do more for my wife and for myself now.”
He also thanked his good neighbors for easing his suffering. (EDEN BENUSA-REYES)
