Malot attends UNA major rally in Cebu
CEBU CITY – Baybay city mayoralty candidate, Marilou “Malot” Galenzoga, joined the first major political rally of the senatoriable candidates under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) on Tuesday in this city.
The neophyte politician was the lone candidate present during the grand rally of the opposition party who is not from Central Visayas.
Joining Malot were her entire slate, namely, running-mate Al Relevo and candidates for council seats, Akie Baledio, Earl Nuñez, Virgie Dumaguing, Vic Bacusmo, Eric Avila, Oscar Balan, Alvin Truya, BB Datahan, and Dingding Meredores.
Malot assured the UNA candidates seeking for Senate seats that she and her entire team would work hard to ensure that they would give their full support once they barnstorm Leyte.
The UNA senatoriables have yet to schedule their campaign sortie in Leyte, Eastern Visayas’s vote-rich province with more than one million voters.
Malot, who is a highly-regarded businesswoman, is running for mayor of Baybay City on a platform for change.
Baybay, one of the newly-created cities in the country but is slowly emerging economically, has been in control by a single political family for decades now.
But Malot, riding on popular public support, is determined to change the leadership in Baybay.
The mayoralty candidate said that with her at the City Hall, the people of Baybay could expect radical changes not only in the aspect of leadership but even providing basic services to the people of the city.
Malot said that she would also anchor her administration on transparency and good governance, two qualities, she claimed, that are lacking under the present administration of the city.
Her visits to the various barangays of Baybay have been attended by big crowds, an indication that they want change in leadership.
Meantime, during the UNA rally, Galenzoga was able to hobnob with the party’s so-called “three kings,” namely, Vice President Jejomar Binay; Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and former President Joseph Estrada, himself a mayoralty candidate for Manila.
Galenzoga also met with Cebu Governor Gwendolyn “Gwen” Garcia, who is running for a congressional seat under the UNA ticket.
