TACLOBAN CITY – Seven months before the 2013 national and local polls, the Commission on Election (COMELEC) regional office here said that they are already 100% prepared.

“We are already 100% ready for the 2013 National and Local Election. The COMELEC will never compromise for any percent less than 100,” said Felicisimo Embalsado, COMELEC-8 assistant regional election director

Embalsado added that one of the preparations that they are doing right now is to clean the list of voters.

“We are deleting the names of the deceased persons from our list of voters because the danger of this is if the names of these persons will not be removed from our active file, chances are other person may use it for fraud that is why we are cleaning our list of voters,” explained Embalsado.

Embalsado futher enthused that those voters who failed to vote on two consecutive elections will also deleted from the active list unless they will re-activate their registration on or before October 31 this year.

The registration of voters is continuing until October 31 this year while the filling of COCs is up until October 5 this year. (Ailene M. Refuerzo, LNU-ABCom Intern)
