Beware of water meter thieves and all other “thieves” in Tacloban

Several residential houses especially at Phase 6, V and G Subdivision were victims of water meter thieves that happened last week at the onset of typhoon Ofel that hit the Visayas including Tacloban.
Bad weather, after all, is not anathema to a secured and peaceful living. It is yet and likewise a conducive phenomenon for people whose style of living is thievery; probably just a sideline of their actual day to day income generating work, and specially stealing water meters. Others go around looking for wires, aluminum or bronze coated electrical components being stolen in the dead of night. IBC-6, a government television station at the government center, Palo, Leyte has become victims of this thievery. These happened and other similar crimes even when the weather is perfectly fine, when the moon and stars shine proud in the dead of night but simply gazing at the evil deeds.
Definitely we don’t blame the celestial bodies for these crimes.
We do not blame individual policemen for this peace and order faux-pas. With this crime happening in Tacloban we doubt how effective is police operators which are a responsibility of city administrations. Do we lack policemen? Add more.
Do they lack vehicles? Buy more.
Are police officials incompetent? Replace them with a more professional, sincere and efficient commanders. Effective and regular police patrols is a MUST in police operations.
