An Waray holds barangayan at Costa Grava area
TACLOBAN CITY – Representative Florencio “Bem” Noel of the An Waray party-list spearheaded the conduct of the barangayan at Costa Brava area in San Jose district of this city yesterday (Friday).
Noel’s executive assistant Bert Malate in an interview said that the barangayan was conducted by the An Waray partylist to bring the basic services to the communities.
Malate added that the different services which the residents of Costa Grava availed include legal consultation, free medical consultation, distribution of free medicines to both pedia and adults, beauty caravan with free foot spa, reflex, pedicure and manicure offered by the barangay ni nanay (BN) group, as well as feeding program for the kids.
In a separate interview, Vice Mayor Antoni, who was also present, said that they are happy of the warm welcome of the
people of Costa Brava.
“The warm welcome of the people makes us feel good in giving back to the people the necessary services that they are supposed to receive from our public servants,” Antoni said.
The second termer vice mayor revealed that about 600 people benefited for free the different services offered by doctors, nurses and volunteers coming from the An Waray partylist.
“People who are living in this area are so happy that for the first time that a barangayan was conducted in their area.
This despite the fact that Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez resides here,” he said.
According to him, most of the people on Costa Brava area are fisher folks. “It feels so bad that even up to now, most of the fishermen from this area were affected as the city government removed their fish pins in 2011.”
On the other hand, Malate pointed out that the same activity will be conducted by Noel in other parts of the city. (REY GERILLA GRADO)
