Sen. Manny Villar giving 100% support to candidacy of his wife, Cynthia Villar
TACLOBAN CITY – The president of the Nacionalista Party (NP), Senator Manuel “Manny” Villar, is giving his hundred percent support to the candidacy of his wife, Cynthia Villar.
Thus assured Las Piñas representative Mark Villar in an interview with Leyte Samar Daily Express, who told that his father being a non re-electionist Senator now, gives his utmost support to the candidacy of former Las Piñas representative Cynthia Villar, his mother.
“He is the campaign manager on the candidacy of mother, since he is already behind the scene. He is considered as the best campaign manager of my mother in the national level,” he said.
The Express noted that Manny Villar served as Las Piñas representative in 1992, became the Speaker of the House of Representatives then a senator from 2001 until 2008 where he became the Senate President from 2006-2008. After that, he ran for the Presidency but lost to President Benigno Aquino III during the May 2010 national elections.
Mark Villar, on the other hand, pointed out that his family is happy on the result of the recent survey for senatorial candidate, where his mother was included in the top 12.
“Our family is very overwhelmed on the trend of her standing in the survey that she is included in the top 12 senators to be elected in the May 2013 midterm elections,” Villar added.
The representative said that though the result of the survey is positive, still their family look for ways to improve the rating of her mother.
“My mother is very hard working in going to places to impart knowledge and skills on how to improve the lives of the community,” he said.
“We are very happy to the warm support shown by the people in the provinces. This also could be a result from the advertisement of my mother on Villar Foundation,” Villar added.
According to him, his mother (Cynthia) being the managing director of Villar foundation, wanted that every women would have additional source of income for them to support the daily needs and finances of their family.
“My mother prioritizes on helping the lives of the women. As we know that half of the population is women. The foundation does not only provide trainings to earn additional income, but also helps the maltreated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs),” Villar added.
Villar further said that her mother could be one of the effective senators for she is not new in the world of politics. “She served as Las Piñas representative for three consecutive terms.” (REY GERILLA GRADO)
