Romualdezes thank Sec. Roxas for favorable response to their request for the rehab of Tacloban airport
Last August 31, 2012, the Department of Transportation and Communications advertised for bidding the Airside Development Components of the Tacloban Airport Development Project worth P251,633,801.74 which includes construction of the New Apron and Taxiway, completion of the North-East Shore Protection with shoulder grade correction, construction of Drainage System with Box Culvert and Construction of Temporary Transition.
Mayor Alfred Romualdez and Congressman Martin Romualdez would like to extend to Secretary Mar Roxas their sincere appreciation and deep gratitude for his immediate and favorable response to their request for the improvement and rehabilitation of the Tacloban Airport.
People of Region 8, especially Taclobanons are very grateful to Secretary Mar Roxas for going out of his way to fulfill his promise to fasttract improvement of our Airport – even now that he is about to leave DOTC to assume a new cabinet position.
The Tacloban Airport is the 8th busiest airport in the country. In 2011, the Airport reached a milestone as it hit the one million mark for the first time with total passenger traffic of 1,008,553. In the first six months of 2012, it registered a total of 608,769 passengers.
Deadline of submission and opening of bids is on September 24, 2012.
