REAL, EVRDC converge for rapid, inclusive & sustained economic growth

After the tedious planning and organizing, finally, the Region Eight Administrators’ League (REAL) and the Eastern Visayas Regional Development Council (EVRDC), headed by DBM RO VIII Director Imelda C. Laceras and Leyte Governor Hon. Carlos Jericho L. Petilla, respectively will be in a joint assembly today, September 25, 2012 at Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Campetik, Palo, Leyte for a big whole day activity with the theme “Convergence Towards Rapid, Inclusive and Sustained Economic Growth.”

The activity will be truly a synergetic one for it is a combined effort not only of the REAL and EVRDC but also of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Department of Tourism (DOT).

While the REAL’s theme is the banner theme for this activity as they will hold its CY 2012 3rd Quarter General Assembly and Continuing Leadership Seminar, the EVRDC on the other hand, will celebrate its EVRDC Week with the theme “RDC and Local Planners: Partners in Advocating Development Planning.” Meanwhile, DOST and DOT will co-celebrate Science and Technology Week and National Tourism Week and World Tourism Day dubbed as “Science, Technology and Innovation: Working Together for Growth and Development” and “Tourism and Sustainable Energy: Empowering Sustainable Development,” respectively.

The REAL President, DBM RO VIII Director Imelda C. Laceras elucidated the purpose of the activity. She said that “this Joint Assembly aims to foster closer coordination and collaboration among government public officials in Eastern Visayas, build up membership of REAL, Inc., enhance understanding of the Center Piece Program of Government and lead our respective agencies align existing functions to support attainment of the President’s Social Contract with the Filipino People.

The Joint Assembly will be graced by the presence of DOT Secretary Hon. Ramon R. Jimenez, Jr. as he will deliver the Keynote Message. The EVRDC Chairperson Hon. Carlos Jericho L. Petilla will likewise talk on the Regional Development Plan. Honorable Secretary Sonny Coloma of the PCCO shall likewise grace the activity and will present the topic – Communicating the Philippine Development Plan.

Also lined-up for this big event are discussions on EV Regional Tourism Sectoral Plan, EV Regional Information and Communications Technology Sectoral Plan, Communicating the Philippine Development Plan, and Healthy Eating for Healthy Living.

Towards the end of the activity will be the induction of new REAL Board and New REAL members by the REAL President herself Dir. Imelda C. Laceras together with all the REAL Officers and Board. (JUVY A. LOBEDICA)
