NTC takes action on text scams complaints

TACLOBAN CITY – The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has taken action on texts scam complaints in the region.

Dalila Villegas, administrative officer of NTC, said one of the main concerns of NTC and Telcos (Telecommunication Companies) is text scams, which means text messages from unknown numbers informing that you win in a text promo, asking amount of load or even asking favors with money are few of the several forms of texts scamming. Several persons in the region are filing formal complaints with the NTC, that is why NTC is warning the public.

“If you received these kind of messages report it at NTC, so that we can immediately take action’’, said Villegas, also in charge of OSPAC (One Stop Public Assistance Center).

“Don’t delete these messages, instead have a copy of it including your address and phone number with your signature and we will forward it to the NTC Central Office,” Villegas added.

In this way, NTC and Telcos will be able to stop these kinds of cases and immediately block the numbers used by text scammers. (TIMOTEO S. AVELLANA, Jr. LNU-Intern)
