Hell meet
Skull guards and hard hats are common and effective protection of the human head in any activity that exposes the head to risks for possible injuries. We see people wearing skull guards in industrial and mining sites. Construction people protect their heads with hard hats that they wear during work to cover their heads from falling objects that may cause injuries. Imagine a small nail or nut or any other hard object that may fall from the heights of high-rise buildings could puncture a wound on the head or even deep incision that could scratch the skull.
But the use of helmets among motorists had been a common practice that is required by law aside from being required for one’s own safety. We understand the importance of helmets as a protection for the head in cases of strong impacts that may hit the head. The helmet is to be standard in accordance with government specifications and regulations. With the end of protecting life from accidental impacts while the user is riding motorcycles, government really needs to ensure that the helmet be made of the best material.
While the purpose of the law requiring the use of helmets for motorists is good, there is a need to protect the people from buying helmets that met the specifications and standards set by government. It is in this aspect that government must intervene and ensure that people are not duped into wearing false protection. With fake helmets openly sold in the market, people are bound to lose for buying something not worth the hardly-earned money.
Without government protection that ensures people of buying genuine helmets that met government standards, motorists cannot be safe on the road even if wearing helmets. Aside from ensuring that fake helmets are confiscated from the market, people will be duped and lured to buy what to them appears genuine for a price much lower than what genuine helmets carry at the market. It will give the person false protection if he relies on it as being genuine mainly because it is sold in the open market. Wearing fake helmets is nothing but false hope that one is protected. The incident aimed to be protected may not be shielded if the helmet is fake that will only send the wearer to a hell of a horrifying experience.
On the contrary, law enforcers are faced with another problem as people are trying to comply with the law requiring the wearing of helmets. Incidents not related to road accidents had been happening in the communities, with criminal elements pulling mayhem upon unsuspecting people, covering their identities with helmets. The problem had caused headache upon law enforcers who could even hardly identify perpetrators of crimes with bare face. This time, the task of crime solution is made tougher with criminals concealing their faces with the use of helmets that is in compliance with the law requiring the wearing of helmets. This is a serious police problem that must be addressed by the authorities to promote public safety and protect people from an unforeseen hell meet.

The problem of criminals concealing their faves behind helmets is no reason why some Philippine authorities are not keen to see helmets used.
Helmets have been used by motorcyclists in all western countries for the last 50 years. The use of genuine approved helmets has been strictly enforced for that whole period.
All the police forces seem to have no trouble catching the vast majority of criminals using helmets to conceal their identity..
Is the problem the Philippine police force is to poorly trained and ill equipped to do the same.??
The other unrelated problem in Philippines is people taking helmets that “look ok” to a govt agency there and a totally untrained person that knows next to nothing about helmets is placing a sticker on the helmet and telling the user he is safe to use that helmet..
If the then user of the helmet has an accident and the helmet fails to save his head from injury then he would and should be taking to court that official and his department. If a few dozen cases came to court and the judges acted honorably they would award the victims compensation. but that most likely wont happen as the judge wont make the case go against the govt and even if it did the govt would never have the common decency to pay up.. They would just ignore the court findings..
