Good relationship between executive and legislative departments a success in development – Mayor Codilla

ORMOC CITY – The good relationship between the executive and the legislative departments is a big factor for the success and development of the city as well as other local government units (LGUs).

Thus said Mayor Eric Codilla in a press briefing, who said that the good relationship between the executive and the legislative department of this city, contributed on where Ormoc is now.

“We are proud to say that the Mayor, Vice Mayor and the City Councilors have harmonious relationship. By having so, we can plan what projects to be implemented for the benefit the entire Ormocanons,” Codilla said.

Codilla pointed out that not all of the problems of the city, having a total of 110 barangays, could personally be solved by him alone.

“This is the reason why we created different committees that would be in-charged of dealing with problems of specific field,” he said.

According to him, all the council members together with the ex-officio members are given specific committees to attend on.

“If there are proposals submitted to the executive department, we let the committee in-charge study on the matter. Because if I would do it on myself, it take for me about 10 hours to study for it,” Codilla added.

By doing so, officials of the city government would be able to attend to several problems in just one day.

Furthermore, Codilla said that a recommendation is being made to the Sangguniang Panlungsod members if the proposal needs legislative action. “The councilor in-charge then would defend said proposal to his colleagues.”

Moreover, the Mayor cited that though there are members of the council who are on the opposition side, still he is assured that every members stand are being considered and listened to.

“They are categorically identified as opposition, but, they make their stands on all the agenda taken constructively, especially if they saw that it would be for the good of the people of Ormoc,” he said.

Likewise, Codilla pointed out that Ormoc City during his term has not taken any loan from a government bank or financial institution in funding for the different projects his administration has implemented.

On the recent visit to Ormoc, Codilla said all the projects implemented that includes their New City Hall that costs 380 million pesos, water project and many others are locally funded. (REY GERILLA GRADO)
