Eric Codilla plans to ran for congressional seat
ORMOC CITY – “As of right now, we are going there,” this was the answer of Mayor Eric Codilla when asked if he would be running for district representative position this forthcoming election.
A not so definite answer to the question thrown to him on what would be his next move now as he is now on his last term as city mayor of Ormoc this coming elections.
Although he did not made a categorical statement, it was said that he would be running against the incumbent district representative which Codilla seems not to be bothered or threatened in their possible clash.
Codilla is currently on his third term as the city mayor of Ormoc, where actor Richard Gomez is said to run for mayoral seats this election and already made a public statement about his plan early this year.
It is not yet clear whom among the Codilla’s are running for the position that Mayor Codilla will vacate after his term but among those who are said to run for mayoral race in the camp of Codilla is their father who will be running against Gomez come 2013 elections.
If he continues his plan to run for the congressional seat, Mayor Codilla will be up-against incumbent Fourth District Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez who is aligned with the Liberal Party of President Benigno Aquino III.
Codilla is under Lakas Party of former president and Pampanga District Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Torres-Gomez had already made it to the public that she’ll be seeking for re-election in congressional seat.
To recall, it was her husband actor Richard Gomez that was supposed to run for congressional seat, however he was disqualified due to residency.
She filed her candidacy after the Comelec en banc junked the petition of her husband to reconsider its earlier decision disqualifying him from the congressional race in the province of Leyte.
Torres-Gomez defeated Mayor Codilla’s father in said election, but she was challenged with a complaint at the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal which was later on made a decision in her favor. (ROEL AMAZONA)
