EIATP media organization visits Ormoc City

ORMOC CITY- Close to 50 media practitioners coming from Tacloban and other areas of the region, who are members of the “Express it at the Park,” visited this fast emerging city in the northwest part of Leyte.

The Sept. 18 visit of the local press was upon the invitation of Mayor Eric “Biboy” Codilla who showed them what has become his city during the almost nine-years of his administration.

What particularly impressed mostly the visiting members of the press was Ormoc’s state-of-the-art city hall which was built at a cost of P380 million. And this was all sourced from the city’s coffers.

The construction of the modern city hall, however, was a 10-year in the making though.

Hands down, the city hall of Ormoc is the most modern and beautiful in the entire Eastern Visayas.

But Mayor Codilla said that their city hall should not only be considered as a pride of Ormoc but for the entire region.

“When you visit our regions and find similar facility, you can say with pride that we have it in the region and not just in Ormoc,” Codilla said.

He said that people coming from outside the region should not only have the impression of Eastern Visayas as a place where insurgency remains or that it is a poor region.

“We are doing our best to erase these connotations,” the Ormoc city mayor said.

Aside from showcasing its modern city hall, the visiting members of the press headed by this paper’s publisher and co-founder of the Express it at the Park, Dalmacio “Massey” Grafil, were toured to other projects being undertaken by Mayor Codilla.

These include visit to a modern water treatment facility; a new hospital and a school intended for special children. All in all, the visit was worthwhile and indeed, very educational!
