Earthquake

Records show that the occurrences of earthquakes here and around the world is becoming more frequent and with greater frequency and intensity, killing large number of people in some countries, destroying properties and infrastructure in the process.
According to concerned authorities such as the Philippine Institute of Seismology and Volcanology (Philvocs), the 7.6 intensity earthquake which occurred last Friday (Aug. 31) was the strongest ever that hit Eastern Visayas in 20 years. In less than a week another earthquake jolted Bukidnon damaging some school buildings and infrastructures.
This is a kind of phenomenon where no authority nor modern equipment can tell or predict where it will come next that people should be aware and should be borne in mind what to do in such as occurrence.
Better still, before one should build a house or a housing area one must secure first geo-hazard map before buying residential lots, constructing a house or building in the immediate vicinity to make sure it is safe and away from high risk area.
Furthermore, in these time of uncertainty, the earthquake drill should be continued in schools, offices and public places and communities that residents should always be aware and ready when it comes.
Earthquake is more terrifying among natural calamities to the human mind that if full awareness is inculcated into the minds of residents one must not easily panic and would be able to do what must be done thereby avoiding casualties and loss of lives.
