FFCCCII donates classrooms in Leyte towns
TACLOBAN CITY – “We were fortunate last July 5 and 6, 2012 because donors of 5-units school buildings we turned-over in different municipalities in Leyte were present. They were able to see the school children who benefited with their generosity and school officials, children and local officials were able to personally thank them,” said Go Tic Ching, president of the Tacloban Fil-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (TFCCCI).
School children waving flaglets lined-up the entrance of the schools to welcome the donors and officers from the Federation of the Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) and the TFCCCI led by Antonio Cosing, vice-chairman of welfare committee in charge of Operation Barrio School of FFCCCII. Jimjim Yaokasin, executive vice-president led the officers from TFCCCI and his family is also a donor in Matlang Elementary School, Isabel, Leyte. Also from TFCCCII was Rey Go, treasurer.
In some schools, the school band welcomed the guests to the delight of everyone. We travelled almost ten hours on July 6 just to turn-over two school buildings in Isabel Leyte and Leyte Normal University- (LNU) Extension, San Isidro, Leyte. I am so in awe of these rich benefactors who have to endure hours of travelling.
“We are happy to help you and our government to address the need for more classrooms. These 5 units school buildings with two classrooms and 2 comfort rooms each can accommodate up to almost 1,000 students,” said Cosing.
