A credible, down to earth SONA

Impressively, it was a real and easy to discern report to his boss – the people of the republic. It was delivered in Pilipino, sans drama, sans bombastic delivery, no Marcosian stentorian voice. It was a conversation style loaded with sincerity that was appreciated by a great masses of Filipinos especially those who have less in higher educational pursuits. True to form PNoy attributed his impressive 2-year presidency to the people, saying they made it happen.
The State Of the Nation Address ranged from real concern for the poor that have been effectively implemented with increased number of beneficiaries nation wide, the Pantawid…program. There is now massive infrastructure projects like airport upgrades that included Tacloban, health programs with emphasis on PHILHEALTH cards for the poor, the seeming success of the anti-graft and corruption drive that sees the end of this age-old malice in governance by raising the standard of accountability of public officials like the cases filed on the controversial former President Gloria Arroyo and a host of her cohorts the elusive big fish who usually are untouched in Philippine governance.
What is so touching among many other reported accomplishments is his concern with educational development. Never has it happened in past administrations that the problem of inadequate classrooms has continued to be always a problem of the past. Never has it happened that a 1:1 textbook ratio in public elementary and secondary schools to include adequate chairs for students have seen solutions.
President Benigno C. Aquino III now blazes a new trail of responsive governance, making the “matuwid na daan” his administration’s battle cry effectively doable.
