World Idol
Jessica Sanchez, a 16 year old Filipino-Mexican descent lost to Philip Philips in the finale of “American Idol” but she remained a winner in the hearts of the Filipino people.
We have to admit that racial discrimination again entered into the scene in this very popular contest in the United States. They are two totally different persons; one is a pure American while the other one is a foreigner, half-Filipino, half-Latina. It’s the sheer number of fans that made Philips won the contest. It was a staggering 132 million votes of Americans that were cast.
His victory extended the “Idol” winning streak for men to five consecutive seasons. The last female to win and the last non-white was Jordin Sparks in 2007.
Jessica Sanchez was faulted from a lackluster rendition of her third song “Change Nothing” but whatever it is, it was still the fans votes that mattered. But Sanchez has a bright future ahead and hopes to find the right materials. She said that she wants to be a Rihanna or a Beyonce. Legendary record producer, Tony Motola is reportedly interested in taking her under his wings. She has a big future ahead of her.
Sanchez showed her talent with her show-stopping duet with Jennifer Holiday which several critics praised as one of the best performances in “American Idol’s” history.
This is the “American Idol” contest and Jessica is not a full-blooded American, how can she win?
For us Filipinos, she is the best singer, full of talents. This is not the end but a big beginning for Jessica.
Jessica is not the winner of the “American Idol” but she is the “Filipino Idol” and the “World Idol”.

I agree she was great But lets be totally honest that final song she did was not her best. She did better on earlier shows..
On the night that it matters Philips did have a song that better suited him..
And really why was she competing at all?? The show is called American Idol.
How would Philippinos react if a half American half Philipino came to Phils and compteted and won on Philippino Idol????
Saying “We have to admit racial discrimination entered into the scene. “is just plain stupid.. How do you possibly claim tjhere was racial discrimination. The show is called AMERICAN IDOL . get that first into your tiny brain. She really should not have been competing as she is NOT American..
You silly man its not discrimination if a person from another country competes in a competition that they should not be competing in..
As it stands she has been graciously allowed to compete and has gained a lot of good publicity for herself that she could have never got in Philippines.
