An Waray party-list distributes medicines to all component barangays in the city
TACLOBAN CITY – To assist to the medical needs of the people of this city, the An Waray party-list conducted a simultaneous distribution of medicines all throughout its barangays yesterday.
Joseph Vinson Villegas, project head of the An Waray party-list medical team, in an interview said that the simultaneous conduct of medicine distributions is part of the medical caravan that the party-list is doing to every barangay of Tacloban.
“The medical caravan is a program which Representative “Bem” Noel is doing since last year, and being coordinated with the Barangay Naton (BN) movement,” Villegas said.
Through the implementation of the medical caravan program, Villegas added that the party-list is giving out basic medicines to all of the 138 barangays of this city.
“We give the basic medicines to each barangay of the city that would be receive by the barangay officials through their barangay chairmen,”he further said.
Villegas pointed out that the medical caravan is important to aid the constituents living in far-flung areas to have their health centers be equipped of basic medicines that would be used to fight for the cough and colds illness that commonly affects one’s health.
“The constituents would be given the necessary medicines they need in case of emergency. This would help them lessen their expenses for they need not to go to hospitals,” he explained.
On the other hand,Villegas said that though the distribution of medicine was conducted only yesterday, still the party-list pushes in providing medicines to Taclobanons since they have a cycle medicine distribution.
The Express learned that Rep. Noel has allocated P1.5 million to purchase the basic medicine they distributed yesterday.
“The money that Rep. Noel used comes from his own pocket only,” Villegas said.
Meanwhile, the medical team project head expressed his gratitude to the barangay officials who show their support on the activity they conducted.
Furthermore, he said that the doors of the An Waray party-list is always open to serve the Taclobanons in all kind of problem, on whatever party they belong to.
“It has always been our goal to assist the Taclobanons in addressing health problem,” Villegas added. (REY GERILLA GRADO)
