TACLOBAN CITY- As part of the mission of the Liberal Party to revitalize the party in the region, a two-day trainor’s training is set to be conducted starting today.
Among the expected speakers during the occasion includes Northern Samar Rep. Raul Daza, who is the regional LP chairman, Leyte’s Governor Jericho “Icot” Petilla and Vice Governor Mimiette Bagulaya and Ma. Gladys Cruz-Sta. Rita, LP director general.
The activity, slated at the training center of the regional office of the Department of Education (Deped), will be attended by about 60 participants coming from various sectors of society who would be inducted as new members of the LP, Billy Roseño, LP regional political officer, said.
“We have to conduct the orientation first to ensure that they would know their obligations as (new) members of the Liberal Party,” Roseño said.
Tacloban City Councilor Neil Glova said that he would attend the activity as an “observer.”
Glova ran and won as an independent during the 2010 elections. He, however, said that if given the chance, he would not hesitate to join the Liberal Party which counts Vice Mayor Arvin Antoni among its stalwarts in Tacloban.
The Liberal Party is the political party of President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino who has made it known of what it described as its “social contract” with the people.
Among its promise to the Filipino people is to have a “transformational change” in the national leadership.
It also aims to improve the lives of the Filipino people, better government services, promote gender equality, ensure peace and order and preserve the environment.
Roseño said that during the two-day orientation seminar, the ideology of the Liberal Party will be explained to the new members as their guiding light.
He said that the party works for equal opportunity for free basic education for all regardless of one’s circumstances; equal access to quality public health services, both preventive and curative methods and opportunity for work where an individual can apply his accumulated learning skills and good health to earn a living.(JOEY A.
