PDEA office transfers to new location in Palo
TACLOBAN CITY – As the lease contract of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency with that of the Philippine Coconut Authority was not renewed, the regional office of the lead agency for anti-illegal drug campaign had transferred to its new location, said PDEA Regional Information Officer Liza Baoy.
From the PCA building, the PDEA regional office transferred at the former regional office of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau in Candahug, Palo.
Baoy added that due to budget constraints, the regional office decided to lease once again a building where they can put their office.
She added that another reason why they did not renew their lease contract at the PCA building was due to the assessment of the Department of Public Works and Highways that the PCA building is an earthquake prone building.
However, Baoy added that at present, contacting PDEA regional office through landline is a problem as they are still negotiating with a telecommunication company for a possibility of having a telephone connection which is important for sending fax messages.
She, however, provides their contact number (mobile numbers) where people can send messages once they have information regarding illegal drug trade or activity in their areas.
The mobile numbers are 09166496708 (Globe); 09216302394 (Smart); and 09327020920 (Sun).
All informations that are given to those numbers are well documented, evaluated and to be assess before their operatives provide actions, Baoy said.
“It goes to one department in our office where the person in charge on that department had the access to the informations that are provided by our tipsters,” Baoy explains.
She added that information of the informants will not be disclosed and remains confidential, and they are provided the option whether they (tipster) will allow PDEA agents to meet them personally or only through phone interview. (Roel Amazona)
