Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines holdS 3-day confab
TACLOBAN CITY – Once again, the Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines (GEP) will be having their annual gathering here in the city, marking their 37th Annual National Directorate Meeting and Convention which started on Thursday and to end on Saturday.
This year’s convention, held at the Tacloban Convention Center,is anchored on the theme: “Promoting Public-Private Partnership Effective Lland and Governance”.
In an interview, Engr. Carlos Cordero, national board of governor, GEP – 8 board of director and GEP–8 incoming regional president, said that this is the first time that their annual convention will be held in Tacloban.
“There were other cities and provinces that bidded the said convention like Cebu, Iloilo and Bacolod but Tacloban was chosen (as the venue),” he revealed.The said convention has a great importance to all the geodetic engineers in the country, Engr. Condero said, adding that this is not merely a convention but it is something to do with their profession and they will definitely get benefits out of this three-day gathering.
With this, he also said that they incorporated topics which will help augment their knowledge and to empower them as geodetic engineers.
He said that the design of the program and topics for the said convention was provided from the national office of the Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines, INC.
Election of new officers and the implementation of the Continuing Professional Education (CPE), which is mandated by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC), serves among the highlights.
He also said that the geodetic engineers who will be participating in the said convention will earn point which they can use as they are going to renew their PRC license. (Noel Sevillano Talacay)
