DepED recommends plain and non-expensive JS Prom
TACLOBAN CITY- The Education Department (DepED) city division advises all the public and secondary schools to hold a simple and less expensive Junior Senior Promenade this year.
In an interview with DepED City Division Schools Superintendent Ronelo Al Firmo, he said the holding of JS Prom in the schools within the city should follow same ruling of the education department regarding graduation rites.
“We have a standing guidelines on holding of parties such as Induction of GPTA Officers, Christmas party, JS Prom and Graduation. The department officials maintained that parties should push through with simple and less expensive activities throughout the school year,” Supt. Firmo said.
Firmo added that any contribution should be agreed upon by the majority of the parents or guardians after a meeting has been called to discuss the matter.
Firmo also reminded all the members of the teaching force that they should not engaged in any collection but it should exclusively be the job of the GPTA officers to collect and decide on the disbursement of such collections.
This is to save the department from any controversy connected with the holding of parties, especially in the public schools around the city.
JS Prom is usually celebrated in secondary schools and state universities and colleges every month of February in line with the celebration of the Valentine or lovers month. (EDEN BENUSA-REYES)
