A local lass from Ormoc making wave in a national singing competition has expressed her gratitude for the support extended to her by fellow Leyteños and even from other parts of the region.

Monica Sacay, 16, who hails from Ormoc City, in an article published by the West Leyte Weekly Express, a sister publication of Leyte Samar Daily Express, said that her strong showing at the “Star Power” singing competition could be attributed to the total support from her “kababayans.”

And for her to continue her musical journey at the said show, aired over Channel 2 and hosted by multi-awarded singing-actress Sharon Cuneta, supporters of the 16-year old singing champ, have to send text messages.

Monica was the 2007 grand champion of the Leyte Idol and had won several singing competitions in her native Ormoc City and nearby towns here in Leyte.(JAG)
