TESDA offers finishing course for call center agents
TACLOBAN CITY— The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is accepting scholars for students planning to apply in a call center company.
The course is a three-month training in TESDA-recommended schools like AMA Computer Learning College (ACLC) and Leyte.Com.
As of now, there are 1,096 available slots inclusive of all the other short courses offered by TESDA. Forty percent of these slots or a total of 438 will be allocated for the call center agents’ finishing course because of the insistent demand of employers.
“Right here we have the APAC call center in the province of Leyte that needs 2,000 call center agents, but we have provided only nearly 600, so they are still in need of 1,400 call center agents, and that is for immediate hiring,” Pericles Abarca, administrative officer V of TESDA-Leyte Provincial office, said.
Abarca elaborated that an applicant can avail the scholarship after an interview with APAC employers. But if the employers think that the applicant is already qualified to be an agent, he or she will be recommended to undergo immediate training.
However, some applicants will be recommended for scholarship of the three-month finishing course after the interview. The recommended scholars have to pass the competency assessments and should also undergo an issuance of certification.
Abarca said that applicants should be at least 18 years old and a high-school graduate or college level.
“TESDA is trying to address the unemployment problems. The finishing course is only for three months so right after graduation you can either apply for employment abroad or you can apply for employment in the local companies or establishments,” Abarca said. (PAUL JAMES PELIÑO ANCAO, LNU INTERN)
