Dulag commemorates 66th Leyte Gulf Landings Anniversary
Dulag, Leyte —— The local government unit of Dulag together with the provincial government of Leyte yesterday commemorated the 66th Leyte Gulf Landing,here.
Anchored on the theme “History, a bridge to the future,” the celebration was held at the Hill 120 site in Barangay Rafael.
The anniversary celebration was participated in by the local government unit of Dulag led by Mayor Manuel Sia Que and Vice Mayor Montano Labadia. They were joined by personnel from the police, fire and jail local offices ;barangay and school officials in the municipality and the senior citizens and the World War II veterans living in the town.
2nd District Board Members Anlie Apostol and Nico Villasin were also present to witness the said event.
As a part of the celebration, a civic-military parade was done which was followed by a thanksgiving mass and a flag raising ceremony.
The celebration was highlight by a commemorative program which gave emphasis to the Dulag landing and hoisting of the 1st American flag on Philippine soil.
Afterwards, a wreath laying and floral offering was also done in honor for the heroes of the Leyte Gulf Landings. (Joanna Marie B. Caspe & Natalie Abaño, LNU Intern)
